thanks so much. im just about to start gardening with doing on hands. after seeing this it makes it a lot easy to pick out what i really need and not. thanks
The long handled shovel came orginaly from the UK. It went out with the Pilgrim Fathers. Its know as a Devon Spade, because it started its life in Devon. Its not popular over here I dont know why as it saves a long of back ache.
A good hoe is hard to find. I perfer a thin shap hoe rather then a thick long diging hoe for most things in the garden. Longe thick hoes are only good is they have holes and are used for mixing cement.
Lord knows why, but until a few years ago long handled shovels were unknown in England , Every spring millions of people would go out and dig their garden at the weekend and be off work on monday with a bad back . TRUE!
