Spider plants are generally easy to grow, and the mature plants are quite beautiful until the tips brown out. Spider plants are not supersensitive to being pot-bound.

Apparently, cats are attracted to spider plants because, like catnip, spider plants are mildly hallucinogenic to cats.
Spider plants are a lovely addition to any home, and are well adapted to hanging baskets. Spider Plants are one of the plants on NASA's Clean Air Study as an air-filtering plant. Spider plants are good for absorbing carbon monoxide, the toxic exhaust gas that can build up in buildings with low ventilation. Spider plants are terrific for use indoors, because they are hardy and thrive in just about any type of environment.
 

Overall, spider plants are one of the easiest plants to grow and are excellent for beginning house plant enthusiasts.  For those of us who can be forgetful, spider plants are a good choice because they like to dry out slightly between watering. Spider plants are fun to plant because of the unique way they grow. One sure way to make spider plants grow really big is to remove as many of the stolons (the long stems with flowers and baby plants on) as possible. Only do this if you have as many spider plants as you need. You can repot younger specimens (under 2 years old) several times a year. Older plants usually get re-potted at least once a year. Spider plants are aided through the practice of organic gardening by enriching the soil.
